Keeping Clean in a Steelworxx Steelheart

Post by elwoodinchastity »

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on ordering a Steelworxx Steelheart 2 for myself based largely on Thumper's reviews and experience. However, I'm still a little concerned about maintaining hygiene with this device. Obviously it can be thoroughly cleaned by taking it off briefly and/or in the shower.

What I'm wondering is, what happens when you're not at home or somewhere that you can rinse it out. It seems to me that when one urinates in this device, it will briefly fill partially with urine until it all drains out, which I assume will drip for a bit afterwards. This seems to pose a real problem for wearing this device.

Anyone have any experience or thoughts on how to deal with this?

Thanks!

Do I have experience with this? BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!

OK, seriously. Yes, keeping clean in the SH requires more attention than, say, the CB6K, but not a ton more, in my experience.

I wash it out with soapy warm water in the morning during my shower (using the wash bottle found on this page). I use about a half tbsp of antibacterial Dial shower gel in the bottle and fill the rest with water, swish it around until it's all mixed in, then squirt my heart out. I'll fill the tube through the hole until I see suds coming out of the top, then I'll place my finger over the hole and move the tube back and forth to really get sudsy, then let it drain. Repeat 2-3 more times. Then, I rinse with 3-5 bottles of water to make sure all the soap's gone.

In the evening, I'll usually just use warm water (2-3 bottles flushed into the tube). Dry thoroughly before applying lubrication.

During the day, I make sure the tube is as drained as possible after I'm done at the urinal. You can try taking a bit of paper towel with you and hold it over the hole while you shake it out.

If I'm in a stall, I'll roll one sheet of TP (two if their flimsy) like a cigarette and push it into the tube. Then I'll shake the tube a bit to catch any lingering fluid. Pulling the TP out can be tricky as sometimes it'll pull in two leaving some inside the tube. Not a big deal, but I find it annoying when it happens.

The truth remains, however, no matter how hard you try, there will still be a bit of urine left in the tube when you're done. There is nothing you can do about that. And yes, sometimes at the end of the day, I have a stinky tube. I think lots of guy playing this game could say the same. I'd say it's maybe 20% more often than with the CB6K, but even the open-ended PA5K got that way, but to a lesser extent.

Almost forgot to mention that made the hole in the wash bottle just a tad bigger. I found the needle-like stream that came out of it before not only a very slow way to get water in there, but it was also a little painful if the stream hit the wrong spots.

I was looking at the Steelheart 2 and I thought that it had some additional slots cut near the tip in addition to the piss hole. Is this correct?

I would think that this would facilitate cleaning.

Is this the only change between Steelheart 1 and 2?

Oh yeah, of course.

As far as I can tell, that's the only difference. I think you'd be picking up a bit of extra drainage and losing any control over said drainage (assuming it's similar to the CB6K that way).

I really like the integrated lock on the steelworxx but couldn't find one that I thought would work for me. I'm not ready to go back to the cleaning regimen that you describe with the steelheart. I thought the 'revenge' looked promising but the way they do the bars with the small hole at the tip looks like you would make quite the mess when you urinated. And doing so standing up would be out of the question.

I've been stuck on the same issue. I'm currently in a Birdlocked Mini, which I love in almost every way, except that the silicone flex that makes it so comfortable also lets me... er... entertain myself a little too much. So, I've been dreaming of upgrading to steel, but have the same reservations about hygiene.
Yes, keeping clean in the SH requires more attention than, say, the CB6K, but not a ton more, in my experience.
Wait... really? I wore a CB3K before the BLM, and it had a giant slit in the front that extended so low that it even exposed a portion of the underside of the penis. I never had any trouble urinating cleanly out the front; if anything, I wished the slit were smaller so it wouldn't allow so much access. The experience of being in the Steelheart doesn't sound like that at all.

Currently, in the BLM, my experience is similar to the CB3K; I carry a Q-tip with me and with a few seconds of poking around I can nearly always line up properly. Really, I'm just looking to maintain this ability in steel; is this futile?

Before anyone points out that I could just go with the variety of open-cage designs, I should mention that I'm extremely sensitive to stimulation when locked up, and am looking a design that makes it difficult or impossible to reach any portion of the underside of the penis. Aside from the front-opening issue, the Steelheart, for example, looks perfect, or perhaps an open-only-on-the-top design like the Braveheart.

Any guidance is very much appreciated!

take a look at maturemetal.com they have a couple of models that are more enclosed. The 'Pet Trap' has fairly limited access and still has an open front. If you talk to him he can probably even block more of the access than the design shows.

As I said (or might have said), I don't think the SH is that much worse than the CB6K with regard to hygiene. Maybe 20%. I actually like it better because it's dead simple to pee while standing up.

Look, you lock anything on your dick and you're going to get piss on it. I still had to clean the CB6K out twice a day to stay spring fresh, so what's the difference? When I wore the PA5K, I still found that urine coming out my PA found its way into the tube of the device and - you guessed it - needed to be cleaned twice a day. I suppose it's possible that a totally open design like the Birdcage would be different, but I can't speak to that. All I know is what I've said.

I think we're just working from different reference points. I'm used to doing maintenance at most once a day, in the shower. Didn't mean to be confrontational about it.

For anyone who's interested, I wrote to Dietmar of Steelworxx fame and asked about the opening on the Braveheart. He kindly wrote back and said that the regular opening is 8mm in diameter but that it can also be altered to a different shape or size. I think an oval or slit-shaped opening would address my concern, so now I'm considering going that route.

I'll post here if I end up with a custom Steelworxx cage!
