After some further reflection on the Mature Metal screw, if the screw were made a little longer and cross drilled, then a security seal (plastic lock, wire seal) could be attached to prevent tampering, or at least make it obvious the screw had been removed. Alternatively, the post on the A ring could be extended enough for a security seal hole. Either way, the bulky lock would not be needed, but any attempt at removal would be detectable. The screw would then provide the necessary structure, but would not need to provide the security.

Regarding the screw vs. lock argument...

(And, fair warning, I might expand on this in a blog post...)

My Steelheart's permanently locked through and around my body and I can't remove it without the key. That's fucking hot, yes, but I *could* remove the device by breaking the lock with a strategically placed flathead screwdriver head. So, you know, the idea that it's "secure" is in my head. The security is a concept I've bought into by endowing the key with significant emotional power.

Taken the next step further, what's the torx screwdriver but a different kind of key? I do not own a screwdriver that could remove the screw (as far as I know) and will not go out and buy one. Why? Because I believe in the concept of a secure device I cannot remove by hand. Locks can be picked or broken or cut. In some devices, it's easy to just slip the penis out without defeating any part of the device. I guess I just don't understand the *conceptual* diference between a key and screwdriver. To me, they are equal.

I think what we're getting hung up in here is the hot fantasy of being locked up against your will. That's never going to be more than fantasy, though.

Hmmm - pretty sure I _do_ have a secure torx bit set in the toolbox. Maybe that's a difference for me.

However, think about it - which is hotter:

"She has the key"

Or

"She has the screwdriver"

8-)

I'll take locked over screwed. Just seems sexier.

While having a key on my nipple ring might be sexier than having a screwdriver tucked away somewhere, Ab is telling me he likes the screw better, at least at this moment. It holds everything together more tightly and thus feels more comfortable. The JB had a habit of twisting to the left and that started to bother him (painful) particularly last week. One thing I have learned is that comfort is extremely important to him. Back at the beginning, because he was still flying high on the hotness factor, he seemed willing to put up with a little bit of squeezing or pinching; now, because he sees that he is going to be in a device more or less all the time for the foreseeable future (and he's okay with that) he wants it to feel as natural as his wedding ring. So any pinching, twisting, squeezing, etc., is not acceptable.

If he decides that the screw really does make it more comfortable, we'll probably be sending the JB back to have that ring modified for the screw instead of the lock.

Because of this comfort issue, we've also agreed on a slight change in the rules of the game. I'll be blogging about that, either later today or tomorrow...whenever I get a minute.

I did mine myself. I just used an 8-32 tap and a little light cutting oil. It was pretty easy, I think the hole for the lock is a little big for an 8-32 so it cut pretty easy.

It is nice to have it streamlined and like thumper said, the torx security key is enough 'security' for me. I had the extra hole put on the Pet Trap for an auth tag in case we decided we needed that. I don't think that would be as easy to do on the jailbird without significant modification.

That's what I had in mind. I was thinking of the hole on the outer end of the post, but this works as well.

I don't have to go out an but the torx security bits, I already have 2 sets at home. Probably why I don't think of the screw as being particularly secure.

However, I have to agree "My keyholder" is much hotter than "My screwdriver holder".

Well, I think a device that's attached to my body using a special tool is way hotter than having some stupid lock flopping around at odd angles. So there.

*sticks tongue out*

To each their own.

I'm with you, Thumper. I'm liking the screw and the way it looks. Nice and streamlined.

Maybe we could start a new fad of chaste couples drinking screwdrivers...LOL. So when you're out and about and you see someone with a telltale oj&vodka cocktail, you could waggle your eyebrows and say, "Oh, you're a screwdriver kinda guy?" or, for a woman, "You're a screwdriver holder for your man?"
:D :D :D

Okay, I'm in a silly mood.

I thought about the end of the post too but it won't work. If it doesn't go through the locking collar as well as the post then the cage can twist if the lock / screw is removed (even when you are in it). This will allow enough room for a testicle to come out, then twist the other way for the other one, then the whole thing comes off. Reinstall the opposite way. Apparently Mature Metal has been down this road before because he pointed that out right away. Because he still had my Pet Trap he was able to make the modification although it wasn't easy, he had to cut off the locking collar and put a new one on to allow room for the two holes.
