My girlfriend is not interested in holding the key. Now instead a female friend holds them for us with my girlfriend's consent. It works so much better for us when my girlfriend doesn't have to think about whether to unlock or not. The lock is always locked instead. End of discussion. I also don't have to think about whether the girlfriend will unlock or not. The chastity is so much more “real” then. Much easier for her and I really can't complain.

Sorry if I'm being dense, but... who decides when or if to unlock?
Or is it never and the other female just looks after the key, just in case?

There is no unlock for sex or release. Only release for 'technical' or medical maintenance. If my girlfriend decides to give me pleasure it's with the tube in place. We never has piv sex. She usually play with my bits to tease me during sex ( = while I satisfy her). I'm wearing a piece of steel tube with a locking pa wand and it can be cleaned without removal. I got the unit, it is easier to but on and I think it will be interesting to try out, I think it would be used mostly to give her an option during play time.
I will come off easily, it's one piece so one turn of the key it opens and can be removed without a lot of effort.
Putting it back on, well she could do it, at least nothing has to be forced through a ring and nothing has to be assembled, just would need to make sure ring goes inside top of unit, squeeze and push pin in to lock it.
I definitely can't wear it long term, it has too many hinge points and even covering them with tubing still gets uncomfortable pretty quick but I think it's a viable option for easy removal and very possible to be put back on without much pain.
Also found there are several versions, different cages or tubes and most are relatively cheap, got mine for 20 bucks and seen others for 30-35.
I'll give an update if it's ever used, AND I remember to update. LOL
