PLEASE READ THIS: Our Search/View function is broken

Postby Tom Allen » Tue Apr 19, 2016 9:38 pm

Edit 2:
EDIT: Since the search function is not working, you can get around this by using the search engine Duckduckgo.com.

Open your browser to Duckduckgo.com, and in the search box, enter the term you want to search on (in quotes), followed by the phrase: site:chastityforums.com

Example: "CB3000" site:chastityforums.com

DDG will then show you a series of links that will all be to this board. Those links will not be redirected.

I'm not sure how it works, but DDG is a secure search engine that protects your privacy better than the big name search engines.

=================

Edit:
Yes, the Search/View is still broken. And for some reason, Google, Bing, and Yahoo searches will redirect to a spam site, however, DuckDuckGo searches will bring you directly here. Apparently some of you don't want to put the URL directly into your browser so you search for the site.

Thumper and I are still working on it, but we're hamstrung by the site hosting at the moment. It's been a few weeks, so we're hoping that our support request will get resolved soon.

========
Spammers were able to get by the site hosting service and insert a redirect script into the "View..." links that affects any subsequent forum viewing.

Until we get this corrected, please do not use the "View unanswered posts" or any of the other "View..." links at the top of the forum list on the main page.

Edit: The Search function seems to be the culprit, since links to posts found while using the Search box will redirect to spam sites. The View links all work off the Search engine.

At this point, all other links seem to work just fine.

Also, the links will redirect to spam sites, but as far as I can tell, will not cause any further damage. But please don't go experimenting, just in case I've missed something.

We're working with GoDaddy, the site host, and it's unfortunately not as fast of a process as we would like to see.

Thank you for understanding.

Tom:

I was unable to get here today (21 April) by linking via search engine results; they all took me to those other pages. I had to type in the site's URL. That worked just fine.

Hope you're able to get this resolved soon and thanks for attending to it.

Can you tell me what you mean? That is, did you open Google in your browser and search for "chastity forums"? And the links brought you to the spam site?

Edit: Duckduckgo.com brought me right here, but Yahoo and Google brought me to the redirect links. The script definitely seems to affect the search functions on the board. I wonder how that's affecting the outside search engines.

If I type "male chastity forums" into the search bar, using either Google or Yahoo, I get the usual search results page. If I click on a link, I get taken to another site (there seems to be more than one). It's usually selling me connections to women in my area that want to fuck now, or some such thing. Other links that come up in the same search (like "The Great Chastity Experiment") all take me to the correct page.

On the other hand, if I type in "http://chastityforums.com", I get brought here to the correct page. I've tried using both Firefox and Safari and on two different computers.

Hope this helps!

Odd, I always get the same site.

Talk about mis-matched marketing. That's the last thing this group is interested in.

Indeed! It's like when I get ads for my own employer on my Facebook page. I actually find it comforting that the Internet hasn't figured out everything about me.

If you want an alternative to the site search, try typing "site:www.chastityforums.com mysearchterm" into duckduckgo (http:/ddg.gg)

For example:

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=site%3Awww.ch ... +jail+bird

I've noticed that Duckduckgo.com does not get redirected. Not sure why that is.

Right now the situation is over to Thumper, which will will hinge upon how much time he can spare waiting for GoDaddy tech support. I've had a number of helpful offers from forum members, and if it's not resolved in the next few days, we will probably take you up on it.

That's probably down to the way different search engines index the pages. I suspect Bing will probably work too as that's where a lot of DDG's data comes from. I've been an avid DDG user for about a year now.

I'll keep an eye on my PMs... Good luck getting it sorted out.
