Silicone lube issues

I am having quite the conundrum and can't quite figure out what is going on.
MrsL and I have used silicone lubricant for external stimulation for years. As recently as a couple of weeks ago, she had me tied to the bed and used silicone lubricant to edge me several times. When we use silicone lube in this manner I NEVER have any issues with burning or itching. I mean she uses so much it runs down and around my balls using it to play with my balls.
However, whenever I use it in conjunction with my Steelheart I get an insanely intense burning sensation around the base of my balls. It is even more pronounced at night during night time erections. Anyone else have similar issues?
I am assuming the burning is a reaction of both the stainless steel and silicone together?
Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks.
