URL problem

Post by Locked by LRC »

I was trying to update the Common Term and ran into a problem. I got the following message at the top when I tried to edit it;

"Your message contains too many URLs. The maximum number of URLs allowed is 2."

Is this something new or is it something you can change. CT&A has a lot of URL's

Dang. I changed this a while back to help cut back on the spam messages. Generally, people are not posting more than one or two links, and spammers often post dozens.

How about if you post the message, and then go back and edit the URLs afterward? Have you tried that?
Edit: I just tried it, and even as an Admin it won't let me. I'll look at this later when I'm on a real pc instead of the tablet. Maybe we'll have to coordinate it so I change it, you do the update, and then I change it back.

Okay, I opened up the throttle. I'll leave it open unless I see that there's a problem with spammers again.

It really makes me feel good when I'm treated like a spammer :shock:

Thanks, for changing that and I have the editing done.

Now that I'm only doing updates, I occasionally do updates with URL's. What I don't know is if I add something without an URL if it would have let me do that.

If you want, you could change the settings back and when I need to add a URL I could just let you know.

Well, even as an Admin I can't make those changes, either.

I'm going to leave the settings the way they are, unless we see that we need to change them back to ward off the spammers. You're doing a good job with the list, so we'll do what we can on the back end to help out.

Just logged in and there were 10 spam messages in the queue (1hr since it was cleared). 9 of them had more than 2 URL's in the message, the 10th one only had two.

I've already deleted 120+ this morning. I don't know if it's a coincidence or what.

Maybe all the spammers are back after their Christmas break.
