I would be happy to pay towards the costs of the site but I don't see a need for fancy add ons and chat rooms. Chat rooms are to transient and good data maybe lost as people didn't post it? The CM site is too slow too showy and garish. The great appeal here is the number of couples and shared experiences. on CM one of the main 'extras' if you pay a monthly fee is the gallery and pictures. FFS if I see one more locked up cock... I have a locked up cock....

So in summary my view is yep I will pay a fee to keep the site running, you doing/paying it all is unreasonable Thumper. Do I see a need for loads more features? Not sure I do.

However the only constant is change :D

I'm a newcomer here but I'll add my 2 cents anyway- I've nothing against 'donating' (as opposed to a subscription fee), but I'd rather see a quick-loading board with fewer features than a feature-rich board that takes forever to load. I've all but abandoned boards that run loads of graphics, java and javascript, partly because I moved to the sticks and can't get broadband (I have to make do with 26k dial-up until Obama blankets the country with Wi-Fi, or hit the lottery...but since I rarely throw money at bets that are 600MM to one or worse I'll have better odds waiting for the Wi-Fi), I'm not going to sit waiting for ten minutes to load a page. I don't need a chat feature, PMs work fine as far as I'm concerned, chatting can be done with AIM, YIM (or one of the Linux versions) or whatever. I still use Usenet, too.

I'd be happy to contribute but IMO the draw and popularity of this forum is its simplicity. Would others pay for a feature rich version? I'm not sure they would. In terms of mobile access, I can see this forum easily with no additional apps on my i-phone. TapTalk etc didnt really add much to the mobile experience.
CM has (or had) a pretty large member list, so maybe they thought they could handle the move. At this point, I think I'm questioning whether we would have the number of members to give it consistent support.

I think that in the last 10 years, I've seen more cock shots than most gay men. I mean, what is the idea of trading locked up cock pictures, anyway? Once you've seen a few of them in a device, they all look pretty much the same.

That is what I meant, thanks for being a little more clear.

Also, re chat - I am sure I would love to chat with a bunch of the folks here, I have with a few but I can see myself spending way too much time doing that.

Just to clarify - whether you keep the current PHP BB or not... I would be happy to make a donation towards hosting costs, domain reg, etc... It is not fair for 1 person to bear the entire cost of something we all get value out of.

To all the comments about "features" and worrying about too much going on here, it's possible to strip all that nonsense out and leave only the forum itself. I'm neutral on the chat thing. Personally, I wouldn't use it, but I know some would. The argument that it's ephemeral and therefore of less value than posts to the board is one I've heard before. I'd probably leave it up to a poll or something to decide. Also, regarding the speed thing, it very variable. It depends on the hosting situation, the size of the community, etc. This forum is reasonably fast and I'd want the next version to be so, as well.

The best thing about IP.board is it's cleaner, easier to use, and simply more modern than php.BB. The back end of this forum is like it's from the 70's. For me, this is an aesthetic and functional decision more than anything else. Also, I'm hoping it'll have more advanced anti-spammer functionality, but I'm not holding my breath.
